Canary Medical Key had the opportunity to attend and participate in Spain’s International Tourism Fair (FITUR) this year which was held 22nd-26th January at the Ifema exhibition centre in Madrid. During this 34th year of the fair, we saw how interest in health tourism in Spain is booming.
Our attendance at the event allowed us to participate in meetings with representatives from various Medical Centres, both from the Canary Islands and mainland Spain, as well as representatives from different countries looking for products of quality and excellence in the field of health tourism.
Also, this year’s FITUR served to introduce the new Spanish Health Tourism Cluster, a strategic alliance between the health sector and the tourism sector that will combine efforts to work towards quality care for patients that decide to travel to our country to receive their treatment.
This cluster has been formed by the Federation of Private Clinics (FNCP), the National Association of Spas (ANBAL), the Business Federation of Dependents (FED), the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (CEHAT) and the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV).
The main objective of this new group is to eventually position Spain as an international reference for Medical Tourism and Health, working to increase the overall prestige of the brand Spain.
It is, undoubtedly, a very important step towards expanding the tourism sector in our country and great news for those of us involved.
