Sun

The Canary Islands are the best place for sun and all the healthy benefits related to it.

Several studies —including the one from Michael Holick (Nobel Prize) about the importance of vitamin D— have shown the benefits of sunshine on our body.

When our skin is exposed to UV radiation, our organism generates vitamin D naturally. Vitamin D is necessary to absorb calcium and prevent osteoporosis. Moreover, there is scientific evidence that shows that having a good level of vitamin D linked to solar radiation prevents diseases such as multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure, muscle aches or even breast cancer.

Some publications have recently talked about the antidepressant effect of the sun. It is shown that sunshine stimulates the segregation of endorphins, which are substances responsible for the feeling of well-being and relaxation.

Water

Using water as a therapy is very important in the Canary Islands. The beaches of the archipelago belong to the Atlantic Ocean and form an authentic spa in the open air. Composed of clear waters, they are rich in minerals, especially sodium.

Marine water has the 89 elements present in our body, vitamins, and micro-organisms living in the plankton, which release antiviral substances, antibacterial substances and hormonal substances. Human skin is able to absorb all these elements and benefit from them. It is a well known fact that it is beneficial in the treatment of dermatitis, psoriasis, acne, wounds, as well as in the rest of the body and in beauty and anti-aging treatments.

Furthermore, the Canary Islands is the region with the highest number of spring water and dams per square kilometre in the world. The Canaries have some of the best known thermal waters and, due to their volcanic nature, they have the best medicinal mineral waters in Spain.

Earth

Using sand for therapy purposes through sand baths can be very good for your health, such as vasodilator or detoxification therapies. It helps to lose weight, to treat degenerative problems and it is also used for aesthetic treatments. The sand on the beach is also a great natural exfoliant and the best surface to walk on and exercise your feet, legs and muscles.

In addition, the Canary Islands are rich in plants with therapeutic and medicinal properties. Likewise, we can find geothermal waters, minerals and trace elements in the volcanic earth.

Air

The sea breeze —full of mineral salts and negative ions with detoxifying and relaxing effects— is beneficial for the respiratory system and it deeply nourishes and moisturizes the skin.

It’s time to revitalise your health and well-being!
